Nebraska Innovation Studio
Nebraska Innovation Studio is planning on hosting a booth at Make Lincoln again this year! Make Lincoln is a free community maker event. Check out more on make Lincoln here!
Here Last year we brought our button press and had examples of items that were created in Innovation Studio. We would love to showcase our portable laser cutter this year and give away key chains with the NIC logo that have been laser cut. At the event we will have a stock of already fabricated key chains and we will continue to cut out key chains during the day’s activities for people to see how the laser cutter operates. We would also like to showcase a few members’ projects that have come out of Innovation Studio. We were barely open at Make Lincoln last year and were only able to show Lincoln a small portion of what the studio is capable of being. We see this booth as a great way to gain more members and to really provide information and insight into NIS. Exposure can only help our fundraising! We would also love it if we had members with their own booths too who could place a sign on their booth designating themselves as NIS Members.
We are seeking NIS volunteers to help make Make Lincoln a successful event for NIS. We would need volunteers to help with many tasks leading up to the event as well as on the actual day. Below is a list of activities that we need help with accomplishing to really shine at Make Lincoln.
• Booth building/construction on a mobile NIS maker stand!
o Are you interested in creating something to show off your maker skills?
o We need to make this portable and light!
o We should consider this being reused and how else can it help the studio in other maker activities/camps/ venues we might travel to for us to support making in Lincoln.
• Logo fabricators
o We need someone to come in and man the laser cutter while it is cutting out our logo designs for give-a-ways
o We need someone to create an exciting holder for our free logos!
o We need someone to place key rings on our design
• Night before crew to load
o Helpers gathering all of the supplies the night before Make Lincoln
o Loading up the supplies
• Set-up crew
o Helpers to unload supplies
o Helpers to get things set up and looking nice for the event
• Members manning the booth during the fair
• Clean –up crew
o People helping to pack up and reload the supplies
• Unloading crew
We would love to hold a meeting for all interested individuals who would be interested in helping organize the events around NIS’s Make Lincoln Booth. Please come to a planning/volunteer meeting at Innovation Studio on June 29 @ 7:30pm.
